LTW Rev Gun - SOLD!

$6,250.00

This is a fairly unique pistol in the realm of LTW - marked 1911s. LTW pistols are typically built by a 2 man team, sometime a 3 man team, sometimes, the whole crew hand a hand in somewhere. This particular pistol was completely customized by John Harrison - alone. Because of some circumstances beyond anyone’s control, I wound up starting this and building the top half of it last year and then finishing the lower half this year. Not that any of this is earth-shaking, just a deviation from the norm. But enough of that, here’s what it is:

I started with a Les Baer carbon steel receiver, donated by Brownells and mated its oversized rails to a carbon steel slide, donated by Caspian; both in Government Model configuration. I fitted a Kart chrome-moly match barrel in .45 ACP with a H-D Extreme Service slide stop and EGW thick barrel bushing and GI style smooth spring plug. The muzzle was given a high polish, deep crown and the slide stop pin was shortened and countersunk. An EGW ejector, Wilson extractor, H-D firing pin stop, firing pin and appropriate top end springs made the top end functional to feed and eject rounds.

The slide was flat topped and serrated 40 lpi with fluted side borders. I machined ball cuts and heavy lower bevels and hand-serrated the rear of the slide 50 lpi. I lowered and fluted the ejection port and tuned for live-round ejection. I used my HD-006 rear sight made for the standard BoMar cut to give the owner the option of installing an adjustable rear sight in the future, should his needs change. The front sight is a prototype H-D dovetail model, serrated 50 lpi. All edges and corners were hand cut for Carry Bevels.

The fire control system consists of my HD-120 ignition set with a Slotted Commander hammer, HD-125 strut and HD-102-N medium smooth face trigger. The pull is set at 3.5 lbs., crisp. I used an EGW bar stock beavertail grip safety and my HD-451 Extreme Service thumb safety to do the manual safety duties. The main spring housing is a Chen MaxBevel MSH that I round-butted and checkered 25 lpi. An EGW pin set holds everything in its place.

The front strap was high gripped and checkered 25 lpi with top & bottom borders and a smooth lower section for no-snag. The mag well is beveled out at 60 degrees. A H-D magazine catch handles the mag latching and un-latching business. H-D Carry Groove grips give a solid purchase on the pistol, but are easy on you and your clothing during concealed carry. The finish is polished flats on the slide with matte rounds and frame with bluing from the good folk at Glenrock Blue. This pistol is supplied with 3 Tripp Cobramags and an extra set of custom grips by Brian Challis at Challis Grips.
